About Department

Department of Anatomy is one of the oldest and largest departments in faculty of medicine which was established in 1947 as the main division of original Basic Medical Sciences Department.  Basic Medical Sciences department included Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Biophysics.  In 1990 the Basic Medical Sciences department was divided into several departments including Anatomy composed of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology. The name of this department was changed to Department of Anatomical Sciences in 1999.

At present, Department of Anatomical sciences is managed under supervision of prof. Dr. Jafar Soleimani Rad. This department enjoys 13 academic staff teaching different subject matter such as anatomy, histology, embryology and biology to students at different levels of medicine field. Currently, 14 PhD students and 12 M.S c students are studying the lessons and syllabus in accordance with the lesson plans set by the Ministry of health, treatment and medical education.

The Anatomy course is taught as Head and neck Anatomy course, Trunk and Pelvis Anatomy course, Limb Anatomy. Neuroanatomy, Surface Anatomy and Sectional Anatomy in Theory and Practical sessions for undergraduate and advanced level of post graduate students.

At the end of semester, students were evaluated by Multiple Choice Question(MSQ) test, Assay question test and OSCE.
